Gaskets: Engine Gaskets

Oct 15, 2006 — D ear Tom and Ray: My son has been in Iraq for almost a year. He left his car with us, and it has been sitting in the driveway the whole time. My plan is to sell the car and send the money to my son. I put in a new battery a couple of days ago and was able to start it.
Many boat owners do not think about winterizing their boats until the first hard frost visits the Washington area, although some traditionally stop going to the water on Labor Day.
MY 2003 Proton Wira 1.5GLi was found to have a leaking cylinder head gasket after I complained to the workshop about loss of engine power. I was then advised to have the cylinder head removed, get an engine top overhaul and replace the gasket. How could the cylinder head have failed so fast?
What things have gone wrong with the car?
What things have gone wrong with the car? I had to change the CV Joints ($160), valve cover gaskets ($60), oil sending unit ($3.00) and power window switch ($50.00). As you can see all the parts where cheap, I do all the work myself so I didn't have to pay labor.
What things have gone wrong with the car? In the mornings, it revs up by itself to about 4,000 RPMs and then drops below 1,000 RPMs and does that until put into gear. Like the "choke" is not working right.
We bought our 99 Grand Am in Oct of 2000. Since then we have put brakes on it every year. We had lifetime brakes put on them only 10 months ago and once again they need replaced! Now we are having trouble with a humming noise in the front end.
What things have gone wrong with the car? New car died while on vacation - found metal filings in the transmission case. Car made terrible grinding noise when turned steering wheel - turned out to be problem with wheel bearings.
"Shame on Chevrolet!" What things have gone wrong with the car? A/C recirculate button cuts off and on-has been replaced and still does it. Driver side window stopped working and control had to be replaced, but dealer did not put door back together right. Window works now tho.
I recently purchased a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero which I really like, but have read several negative reviews - good ones too. Most of the bad reviews had to do with similar items like brakes, intake gaskets etc. Most seemed to make issues out of some modest repairs- handles or dome lights coming off.
